Coal Creek Utility District's primary goal during the novel coronavirus / COVID-19 outbreak is to ensure continuity of operations, including safe water supply, inspections, critical maintenance, finances, and customer service.

Your tap water is treated and tested for safety.

The virus that causes COVID-19 has not been detected in drinking water. Conventional water treatment methods that use filtration and disinfection, such as those in most municipal drinking water systems, should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.

On March 27, 2020, EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler sent a letter to Governors in all 50 states, territories, and Washington, DC, requesting that water and wastewater workers, as well as the manufacturers and suppliers who provide vital services and materials to the water sector, are considered essential workers and businesses by state authorities when enacting restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19. Our critical water infrastructure and its operators ensure the safe supply of water to our homes and hospitals, and depend on treatment chemicals, laboratory supplies and related goods and materials.

Social Distancing - Service Options

For everyone’s safety during the COVID-19 situation, we are keeping our lobby closed to walk-in customers. Please make payments using the drop box by the front door. You are also encouraged to pay online, over the phone at 425-235-9200 or via U.S. mail.

If you are an Engineering & Development customer, we also encourage you to conduct as much as business as possible over the phone or via email.

In caring for our community, customers and employees, we are taking proactive steps recommended by the CDC, local and state, and federal health authorities to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus at our facilities.

We remain highly committed to bringing you our very best service while providing our customers and our employees the support needed in these uncertain times. Please be patient, as services and turnaround times may be affected by newly implemented and recommended COVID-19 precautions.

COVID-19 Response: Temporary Billing and Collection Policies

Governor Inslee has issued Proclamation 20-23, pertaining to Utility Ratepayer Assistance and Preservation of Essential Services. Coal Creek Utility District is committed to keeping our customers connected to essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic emergency. If you are experiencing hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, you may be eligible for support, including long-term payment arrangements or bill assistance. This Proclamation does not relieve customers from the obligation to pay for utility services.

On March 26, 2020, the Coal Creek Utility District Commissioners authorized and directed that, during the time period in which the State Declaration of Emergency is in effect for the COVID-19 event,

(1) the District shall not terminate water service to any account,

(2) the District shall not file any new statutory liens under RCW 57.08.081,

(3) the District shall suspend adding late charges; provided that the District will continue to send late notices, but without threat of shut-off, and

(4) the District shall work with customers to establish payment plans. All customers will, however, continue to be regularly billed for the services the District provides.

(5) Financial Assistance Programs in King County

Questions about these policies should be sent to customerservice@ccud.org.

Thank you for your understanding and your support. Please continue to stay healthy.
